Difference-of-squares circuit. This circuit computes the difference of the squares of two input signals. It is useful in vector computations and in weighing the difference of two magnitudes to emphasize the greater nonlinearity. It can also be used to determine absolute value if A is the input, B is connected to EO through a diode and both Z terminals are grounded (courtesy Analog Devices, Inc.).
