Provides up to 10-dB extra gain for older tube-type 450-MHz receivers. Gives significant improvement in receiver sensitivity and quieting. Use of trough-line inductors simplifies construction. 1N914 diodes in parallel at input jack protect transistor from burnout by nearby transmitter.
