R1-C determines half the period, and R2-C the remainder. R1 should equal R2 for square wave output. Potenliometer varies pulse width without affecting frequency. Outputs are equal and oppositely phased.- Transistor Manual, Seventh Edition, General Electric Co., 1964, p 434.
