DC meter protection circuit. The diodes will not conduct until the voltage across the meter reaches 0.5 to 0.7 volts. For a typical meter movement with an internal resistance of 1200 ohms and a full-scale current rating of 50 μA the rectifiers will introduce less than 1% error (courtesy General Electric Company).
