This AM radio requires only two ICs and few discrete components. A block diagram of the radio is shown in Fig. 2-63B. The typical PC-board layout is shown in Fig. 2-63C. The mixer-oscillator, two IF stages, and AGC section are contained within the LM3820. The power output of 0.25-W into an 8-Ω speaker is obtained in the LM386.
