This circuit also uses an LM111 comparator to produce a 100-kHz output. The circuit is similar to that of Fig. 5-53, except that positive feedback is obtained through the crystal (operating in a series-resonant mode). The high input impedance of the comparator minimizes crystal loading and contributes to frequency stability. National Semiconductor, Linear Applications Handbook, 1991, p. 132.
