This circuit shows a UJT that is used as a thyristor trigger (with feedback), where the quantity to be sensed is in the form of an isolated feedback dc voltage (such as a tachometer output voltage). The feedback voltage is applied between voltage divider RC and the base of Q1. RC sets the operating point, and thus provides some manual control.
