Furnishes bias voltage for r-f and i-f stages of receiver, to minimize changes in output volume as input signal fades or as receiver is tuned to station having different signal strength. Additional output controls squelch tube that suppresses background noise in absence of input signal. Maximum i-f input is 7 v rms.
