When there is no illumination, germanium photosensitive diode is high resistance, saturate BG1, cut BG2 off, and the output is -6V. When there is illumination, germanium photosensitive diode is low resistance, then cut BG1 off, turns BG2 on, cut BG5 off, the output is almost 0V.
In figure, BG3, B4 play a role in reverse voltage protection. Potentiometer W is to adjust the width of output waveform, it can normal work between 600~700μs generally.
