Any number of sections of 554 quad monostable timer can be cascaded as shown to give sequential series of output pulses of widths determined by values of R and C. No coupling capacitors are required because timer is edge-triggered. Negative reset pulse simultaneously resets all sections. Varying control voltage (in range of 4.5-16V) affects period of all timer sections simultaneously.-H.M. Berlin, IC Timer Review, 73 Magazine, Jan.1978, p 40-45.
