RCA CA555 is connected for astable operation in which total period is sum of individual perids t1 and t2, where t1 = 0.693(R1 + R2)CT and t2 = 0.693R2CT. With 5-V supply, output voltage has rectangular pulses with interval t1 separated by interval t2.
