Ground loops are caused by improper grounding. Ground-loop voltages can interfere with test rrteasurements because the voltages in a ground loop can be larger than the signals you're trying to measure. To prevent ground loops, use two wire plugs to provide the line power to the test instru-ments and a separate wire to bring the input grounds of the instruments to a common ground.
