High-gain audio amplifier with loudspeaker output serves for troubleshooting AF stages. With normal input to amplifier under test, presence of AF signal is tested in each stage in turn. If AF signal appears at input of stage but not at output, that stage has a defect. Signal source may also be signal injector having broadband output from audio through VHF.-M.
