This circuit uses one section of an LM3900 to form a simple direct-coupled unity-gain buffer. Notice that the input voltage must be greater than one VEB (about 0.5 V), but less than the maximum output swing. National Semiconductor. Linear Applications Handbook, 1991 p 224
