This simple circuit can save your house from water inundation. Also, it can save your electrical equipment from water damage. When raindrops fall on the water sensor, a small current flows, turning on Q1 and the buzzer. Alternatively, you could replace the buzzer with a relay to drive a pump. The water sensor can be made from an etched circuit board.
