Low-cost germanium transistors used in avalanche mode provide narrow pulses with fast rise times. Width of input pulse determines number of output pulses. For testing counter, collector voltage of Q2 was adjusted for ten pulses per input pulse, at input repetition rate of up to 100,000 pps.-B. S.
