Single programming resistor RP provides an output-current range of about six decades. Note that this resistor's TC is also a potential source of error; it dissipates 125 mW when VIN= 5 V. The maximum deviation is typically 50 nA or 0.0002% of full scale. This voltage-controlled current source uses optocou-pler IC2 to eliminate an error found in more conventional circuits and which is caused by the output transistor's base current.
