IPhone 5 will be launched on Sept. 12

Now it is reported that Apple Inc.’s iPhone 5 will be pushed Wednesday (Sept. 12). The market research firm IHS iSuppli indicated that iPhone 5 would spur the global smartphone market back to growth in the second half of the year after contraction in the second quarter.

According to the sales data, HIS predicts that total smartphone sales worldwide will grow to 346.5 million units in the second half of 2012, and it is increased from 272.3 million in the first half of the year. It may be caused by be the 26 percent decline in iPhone sales in the second quarter compared to the first.

Wayne Lam, senior analyst for wireless communications at HIS, said “Buyers historically have delayed their purchases until the newest model is available. Then they rush out to get the latest and greatest version once it’s being sold, leading to a spike in demand." So, Apple’s smartphone sales are typically weak in the quarter before a new iPhone launch

It is rumoured that the iPhone 5 is equipped with a custom quad-core processor, LTE capability, an upgraded image sensor and a new, smaller connector. Let’s wait and see.
