According to IMS Research, the wireless charging market is predicted to over 100 million units annually by 2015. Currently, the Wireless Power Consortium has over 100 members for its Qi standard. Wireless inductive battery rechargers still need a proprietary recharge station.
There are many marketing Qi-compatible recharge stations building in public places to support its deployment of power hungry LTE smartphones, and even automobile makers. They are already tested by Japan’s Docomo. The commercial Qi-compatible rollouts will be public over the next three years.
Freescale Semiconductor has designed three reference projects enabling any tablet, smartphone or other mobile devices to be wirelessly recharged. It’s one original equipment manufacturer who really wants to quickly enter Qi-compatible wireless recharging station market. Recently, Freescale cooperates with Fulton Innovation (Ada, Mich.) which has over 186 granted patents and 496 pending in the wireless recharge area.
More information about Freescale’s three wireless charging reference designs is shown on the firm’s website.
