According to the survey of HISiSuppli, Apple has become the biggest purchaser in the global semiconductor market with its iPhone and iPad. The expense of Apple is 50% more than Samsung which is in the second place. The purchasing scale is expanding continuously.
Apple’s expense on the semiconductor was 9 billion US dollars in the year of 2009, which was not outstanding among so many manufacturers. However, its expense on the semiconductor will reach 27 billion US dollars in this year, and amount will increase to 29 billion in the year of 2013.
Samsung’s expense on the semiconductor is after the Apples’, but it is further ahead of other manufacturers. Samsung’s expense on semiconductor was 10 billion in the year of 2009. This amount will rise to 18 billion in the year of 2013.
The enormous influence of Apple and Samsung will bring harm to the business of other manufacturers, although they are not the rivals. In the industrial, automotive and other areas, the coverage, influence and scale of Apple and Samsung has a tremendous change.
Intel is still the largest supplier of semiconductor, which takes 15% of the income in the semiconductor market in the forth quarter; Samsung is in the second rank, which takes 9% of the market share. Samsung is both the supplier and buyer. However, Intel has not covered its chip business to the movable computer industry with the mobility industry revolution.
