The ARM9 module is added by TQ to its product range running at 450MHz and based on the iMX28 processor from Freescale. The i.MX28 microcontroller with its ARM926 core has a range of on-chip peripherals. A 2 x 10/100Mbit fast Ethernet controllers, a USB host/USB OTG controller, three UARTs and 2 CAN controllers for CAN 2.0B are included in the i.MX28 microcontroller. Meanwhile, the 24-bit LCD controller allows displaying up to SVGA resolution. The QSPI and I2C are also included in the expansion interfaces.
For most commonly-used operating systems including Linux, Win-CE 6.0, ONX and VxWorks, the BSPs are available. The TQMa28 module measures 26 x 40mm, which is available from Hitex UK. The processor has up to 256Mbyte of RAM and up to 4Gbyte MMC flash memory available for programs and data.
In order to be used in systems such as data loggers with the time stamps, the processor needs improvement. Its features are extended by an EEPROM and real-time clock. An IEC61850 Software Stack can be used by customers working in the electricity distribution industry. Furthermore, the external control, address and data lines of the processor are brought to industry-standard connectors which have an 0.8mm pitch.
