A programmable DSP architecture has been introduced by CEVA, which supports communication standards for cellular, Wi-Fi, digital TV and white space radio. Compared with silicon IP firm’s XC323 DSP for LTE-A processing, the CEVA-XC4000 provides great improvement, for it consumes less power. The CEVA-XC4000 can save the power consumption with new power management techniques; therefore it can pave the way for modem developers to exploit the flexibility, reusability and time to market advantages.
The second generation Power Scaling Unit of this embedded wireless platform supports clock and voltage scaling with fine granularity within the processor, memories, buses and system resources. The Tightly Coupled Extensions (TCE) is also used by DSP platform to deliver inter-connected power-optimized coprocessors and interfaces for the implementation of critical PHY functions, thus the power consumption can be reduced. The advanced 4x4 and 8x8 MIMO algorithms are available with the architecture, for it has uncompromising modem quality. The reference architectures have been also announced by CEVA.
