Frontier Silicon was built in the year of 2011, which has been a leading supplier of innovative semiconductor, module and software solutions for digital radio and connected audio systems all over the world. The audio module with dual-band 802.11n connectivity has been released by Frontier Silicon, which operates in the 2.4 and 5GHz bands for wireless speakers and docking systems.
This module is called Milan, which is designed for the high volume networked wireless speaker and docker applications. With Milan,OEMs and ODMs build home products, thus the customers can play digital music from their smartphones, tablets or personal computers wirelessly via a high fidelity audio system. The customisable Network Sound (NS) software of this module has support features such as DLNA Digital Media Renderer for audio streaming using UPnP, audio playback from auxiliary I2S input, iPhone/iPod/iPad docking via USB and audio post-processing for bass, treble and 5-band EQ control.
When it comes to the smartphones, iPhone and Android apps are created by Frontier. These apps are developed for remotely controlling Milan-based products from iPod/iPhone and Android devices. With DLNA Apps for Android and iOS devices, music can be streamed to Milan-based products. The Milan hardware is near the built in 802.11n interface, which contains an optional 10/100 Ethernet MAC/PHY, high fidelity audio DAC and a built in PIFA antenna. Furthermore, the broadcast radio reception with the Milan module is another optional hardware feature.
With long experience in producing high volume RF modules for audio products, Milan is able to bring cutting edge technology in a cost effective manner. Marketing director of Marvell Semiconductor also points out that Frontier has the deliver complex Wi-Fi technology for a wide range of audio manufacturers.
