Atmel’s Touch Controllers are Used by Samsung’s Latest Smartphones

We are all very familiar with Samsung Group and Atmel. Samsung Group is a South Korean multinational conglomerate corporation headquartered in Samsung Town, Seoul, South Korea, and Atmel Corporation is a manufacturer of semiconductors, founded in 1984. The system-level solutions built around flash microcontrollers are the focal point of Atmel.

Recently, Atmel’s maXTouch E series chipset has been chosen by Samsung for its Focus Flash 1677 and Focus S 1937 smartphones. There is an updated capacitive touch engine (CTE) that features all new noise avoidance and noise suppression capabilities. Just like supporting brighter displays and improved resistance, the chipset is designed to detect even the lightest touch, including that of a fingernail, as well as active and passive conductive styluses.

For the demand of touch controller technology is increasing, Atmel has expanded its touch controller engineering team at Whiteley near Southampton. The UK team is a global centre of competence for the semiconductor supplier’s touch control software system development and applications support. The engineering director at Atmel points out that the touch controller business has double-digit percentage growth, so they need to enlarge the size of the engineering teams.

The engineering team of Atmel carries out firmware development for firm’s touch controller products and hardware system development. Samsung’s latest smartphone uses maXTouch technology to power the devices.
