Dust Network designs and manufactures wireless sensor networks for industrial applications including process monitoring, condition monitoring, asset management, Environment, Health and Safety monitoring and power management.
Recently, Linear Technology gained Dust Networks, which will be an important addition to Linear’s energy harvesting power management product line. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. There will be some transaction related costs, but Dust’s ongoing results are not expected to be material in the short term to Linear’s financial statements. Dust Networks provides the lowest power radio technology and most complete networking software for building industrial-grade wireless sensor networks. With Linear’s precision low-power sensor interface products and battery-free energy harvesting technology, they will have the industry’s highest performance remote monitoring solutions.
The wireless sensors can be used by the machine-to-machine communications to control the remote data acquisition and build automation and data centre energy management. Linear and Dust Networks have the complementary products and customers. With Linear’s global sales reach, Dust Networks can be at the leading place, thus the sensor networks can have a broader scale. Furthermore, a SmartMesh network technology has been developed by Dust Networks, which is composed of a self-forming mesh of nodes and a network manager.
