Recently, theµC/OS-III real-time kernel is introduced by this from for its V850E2/Mx4 series of microcontrollers. The V850E2/Mx4 series of MCUs are used for the multitask applications, which is composed of single and dual core devices with high processing performance of 2.56 Dhrystone MIPS per MHz per core. Compared with the previous V850E2M core, it is 1.4 times higher.
The µC/OS-III is based on the optimised task manager which supports both pre-emptive and round-robin scheduling; therefore, it can run multiple high-priority tasks at the same time. The semaphores, mutual exclusion algorithms, message queues, event flags, and timers are included in the kernel objects. All these components helps the developers in the implementation of powerful multitask applications. The dual core device can provide processing performance of 1024 MIPS at a clock speed of 200 MHz and maintain low power consumption at 0.88 milliwatts (mW) per Dhrystone MIPS simultaneously.
With the floating point units (FPUs) of V850E2/Mx4 CPU, the floating point numbers become more accuracy, thus the V850E2/Mx4 CPU is ideal of the information appliances that need high-speed data processing or complex algorithm calculations. With the high performance, V850E2/Mx4 MCUs become the suitable platform for theµC/OS-III.
