The EnOcean is a located in Germany, which provides wireless, energy harvesting technology used originally in building automation systems. It offers its technology and licenses for the patented features under license within the EnOcean Alliance framework.
Recently, the third generation of finger-push-powered building automation transmitters has been introduced by EnOcean. The product is composed of two parts, namely the ECO 200 electromechanical generator and the PTM 330 transmitter PCB. They are able to make the electrical connections through spring contacts without soldering. With these transmitters, the OEMs can easily complement their switching solutions. The generator works when magnetic flux is suddenly reversed through a coil as a spring mechanism snaps-over as well as its earlier products. With the company’s power conditioning circuit, the 29.3x19.5x7.0mm generator produces 120-160 μJ at 2V from 1.2mm of movement with a force of 2.9-3.9N. Pushing a bank card into a reading slot can offer this force.
In order to send different codes depending on the state of the inputs, the 26.2x21.2x3.5mm transmitter has four digital inputs. Two of these are also mapped to meander line PCB tracks in the transmitter which can be converted to switches in a final product using conductive rubber push buttons. Moreover, the interface enables the configuration of the content of the wireless telegrams during manufacture of user device.
This generation aims to the applications of control gates and garages; window and door sensors; position switches; and industrial switches. It is now used in the wireless testing of cable harness in automobile production.
