The sales of power semiconductors will increase 6.7% in this year, which is slower than last year’s 37.8%. The annual achievement will be 33billion US dollars. The growth rate of this industry was 2.3% in the third quarter, and the growth of the forth quarter is not expected to increase more. The showdown is firstly caused by the Japanese earthquake. Secondly, it is influenced by the demand of popular consumer electronic items like wireless handsets and mobile computing devices. These are two drivers for the power management semiconductor.

Regardless the current slowdown in the power management semiconductor market, there are other positive elements for the new five years. The inverters are the most promising market, which are expected to grow from $4.2bn in 2010 to $7.5bn in 2015. The inverters can be used in the automotive, solar, wind turbine, motor control applications. Other areas also drive the power management in the next five years, such as the mobile; communications; energy and public infrastructure improvement. The markets of renewable energy also become the driving force, such as hybrid and electric vehicles, wind and solar energy, and grid upgrades affecting equipment like smart meters. Furthermore, the microinverters are projected to be one of the highest-growth segments in the entire power management space.

When it comes the device segments, the media tablets have the strongest growth. It is expected to have a compound annual growth of 63.3%, trailed by the server market at a distant second with a 12.0% CAGR. The building and home control, notebooks, enterprise voice networks, mobile infrastructure and medical electronics are also the important device segments.
