The Introduction of Healthcare Robots

A series of health care robots are revealed by Toyota. These machines incorporate fast servos and sensors that detect posture and other subject attributes. Two of them use technology spun out of the firms’ two legged robot programme. The robots can be used in many fields, such as nursing and healthcare, short-distance personal transport, manufacturing and domestic duties. I will introduce for robots in the below part of my article, namely the independent walk assist, walk training assist, balance training assist and patient transfer assist.

The independent walk assist help people who can not control his won leg to walk independently. It can be mounted on the leg to support the weight of body and help the knee swing forward as the leg is brought forward. A thigh-position control sensor and a foot load sensor imply the intention to walk. The walk training assist also fits to the leg, but it is used to aid the development of unsupported natural walking while people are being trained to walk again. According to the degree of recovery, the walk training assist can adjust the body support level.

People with poor balance may need the balance training assist. The robot takes the form of a wheeled platform on which the subject stands, in front of a video game of tennis, soccer or basketball. By moving the characters in the game in tandem with the way the subject shifts their weight front, back, left and right, the robot offers balance training. This robot can help the users to stay upright. When the carers are transferring a patient from bed to toilet and back, the patient transfer assist can reduce the physical burden.
