Analog Devices is a leading manufacturer of analog, mixed-signal and digital signal processing (DSP) integrated circuits (ICs) used in electronic equipment. It is specialized in data conversion and signal conditioning technology. It is headquarter in Norwood, Massachusetts. The technologies of ADI are used to convert and process real-world phenomena, such as light, sound, temperature, motion, and pressure into electrical signals. It has nearly 60000 customers all over the world. The customers are in communications, computer, industrial, instrumentation, military/aerospace, automotive, and high-performance consumer electronics applications.
Recently, a pair of LDOs (low dropout regulators) is introduced by Analog Devices, which is designed for low noise and high power supply rejection. The LDOs are ADP7102 and ADP7104. They gain a 15μVrms fixed-voltage noise figure, power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) of 60dB at 10kHz in 3V operation. The LDOs prevents shorts and sudden load discharges by using the reverse current. These newest LDOs can be used for noise-sensitive, high-performance loads typical of A/D and D/A converters, DSPs, FPGAs, precision amplifiers, high-frequency clocks, oscillators and PLL circuits.
These LDOs allow the higher converter frequency and accurancy to mean high image resolution. The LDOs operate from 3.3V to 20V and are designed to regulate analogue and mixed-signal circuits operating from 19V to 1.22V rails. With a small 1μF ceramic output capacitor, the devices are stable. The maximum output current of ADP7102 is 500mA, and the maximum output current of ADP7104 is 300mA. An 8-lead SOIC-EP and a space saving 3-mm x 3-mm LFCSP package is suitable for these two LDOs.
