Fujitsu recently said that it has attached a compact, 802.11b/g wireless LAN + Bluetooth version 2.1+EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) combination module. The completely integrated module not only minimizes piece parts, but provides a cost-effective way to easily and quickly add both wireless technologies to new product designs.
Designed for lightweight and compact devices, Fujitsu’s MBH7BWZ04 measures a 10mm x 11.2mm x 1.4mm in a 60-pin LGA package. The onboard EEPROM, voltage regulator and crystal oscillator improve the module’s usability. Meantime, it minimizes package size. The device mainly used in industrial computing, POS systems, hand held terminals, and instrumentation.
The MBH7BWZ04 features separate power sources and switching capabilities to enable the independent or simultaneous operation of wireless LAN and Bluetooth. It also reduces power consumption when either transmission circuit is not in use. A single RF I/O has no interference to support WiFi-Bluetooth co-existence.
Based on CSR BlueCore 4-ROM and Marvell 88W8686 chipsets, it is compatible with UART/USB and SDIO/G-SPI interfaces to accommodate the integration of Bluetooth and WiFi.
Fujitsu Components America, Inc. (FCAI) is managing the sales, marketing and distribution of its connectors, relays, resistive touch panels, keyboards, pointing and input devices, KVM switches, thermal printer mechanisms, wireless modules, and optical modules in North, South and Central America.
