National Instruments is a leading supplier of automated test equipment and virtual instrumentation software. The products of this firm can be divided into hardware and software. The hardware products are VXI, VMEbus, and PXI frames and modules, as well as interfaces for GPIB, I²C, and other industrial automation standards. The real-time embedded controllers, such as FieldPoint and CompactRIO and Common applications, are provided by this firm.
Recently, the reconfigurable camera link frame grabber and motion module are developed for the embedded vision applications and CompactRIO FPGA-based development platform respectively. For the development of embedded imaging and inspection applications, the NI PCIe-1473R frame grabber connects the FPGA with a camera link interface. With the NI 9502 brushless servo drive C series module, the engineers are able to drive brushless servo motors, including six new custom NI motor options, directly from the reconfigurable CompactRIO system.
The grabber is ideal for advanced inspection and imaging applications that require image pre-processing and high-speed control. The FPGA based development board can be programmed with LabVIEW for image processing and analysis in real time. The frame grabber supports a range of Camera Link configuration up to 10 taps and 80 bits. The other additional cables of power supply are not needed, because the NI PCIe-1473R also supports the direct power supply. The 4A continuous/8 A peak current and multiple communication modes are also offered by the driver module.
