Murata Electronics North America has announced its launch of the world’s smallest filter: the LFB182G45BG2D280 balanced output matching filter.

Aimed at a broad range of 2.4 GHz wireless applications using ZigBee and Bluetooth low energy technologies, the new filter has been designed specifically for use with wireless connectivity SoCs from Texas Instruments Inc. The CC253x and CC254x are used for ZigBee and Bluetooth technology networking respectively.

Murata’s solution measures 1.6×0.8mm and incorporates all the necessary RF circuitry of a matching network, balun, and filter within a single package. According to Murata, the new filter replaces nine discrete 0402 components. Compared to the original reference design, spurious emissions are improved by 11dB. Also, harmonic performance is 20dB better at 2xfc and 3xfc.

The LFB182G45BG2D280 device has an unbalanced port impedance of 50 ohm and a frequency range of 2450MHz±50MHz with a power capacity of up to 500mW maximum.
