The IDS, a global leader in machine vision technology, has released the UI-2280SE, an all-round camera. It is equipped with USB 2.0 interface and Sony ICX655 CCD sensor which offers a 5-Megapixel resolution (2448x2050 pixels). With its internal Field-Programmable Gate Array, the camera has the full color depth of 12 bits per pixel. Therefore, it provides 16 times more accurate mapping of pixel values as it is compared to the usual 8 bits, while saving money and time for the user.
The new CCD cameras with the 3rd generation A/D converter board can transfer more than 8 bit over USB requires an FPGA to repack the data into two bytes.
One of the UI-2280SE’s advantages is that it is good at capturing moving subjects due to the global shutter sensor and hence simultaneous exposure for all pixel rows. IDS provides the camera in both monochrome and color versions with either IR cut, daylight cut or plain glass filter options. With compact metal housing and M3 mounting holes, the UI-2280SE is also suited for application in demanding measurement, automation and quality environments.
As a leading manufacturer of digital industrial cameras and frame grabbers, the company was founded as a "two-man firm" by Jürgen Hartmann and Armin Vogt in 1997. Their mission is to develop, manufacture and distribute industrial grade imaging components with an excellent price/performance ratio and maximum ease of use.
