The Partnership between Green Hills and Fujitsu Semiconductor

Green Hill software is the world’s leading independent embedded software provider. It owns the most safety and security certifications and the best record for solving embedded problems. A support package is introduced by the Green Hills Software, which was developed at Green Hills Software’s European Technical Centre in the Netherlands. This package is developed for Fujitsu Semiconductor’s Emerald and Jade graphics processors. Driver assistance and automotive entertainment applications are the goal of this package.

Based on a Cortex-A9 processor core, Fujitsu’s Emerald processor can send a 360-degree wraparound view in automotive applications and is particularly well suited for virtual instrument clusters. Some experts point out that a strong partnership between hardware and software manufacturers is important for success; therefore, modern semiconductor devices are extremely complex forcing vendors to gain more and more value to their products that makes their products more competitive.

The ARM-Neon-SIMD engine is also integrated in the Emerald which four video input ports. These video input ports make the simultaneous processing of different high resolution video images possible. Like the bird’s eye, the drivers can see the images from four cameras with Fujitsu’s system. Compared with the conventional systems, these video images have less distortion. The most visible area of advance for consumers is composed of driver assistance and information systems. Fujitsu has created a family of devices that push the bar higher and, together.

Fujitsu’s Jade chip connects an ARM926EJ-S CPU core. The applications for Jade are the on-board and mobile navigation systems, graphical dashboard systems, HUD (head-up display) units and rear-seat entertainment systems.
