At this week’s ARM TechCon event, it rolls out $25 computer board and it contains everything you might need.
The Raspberry Pi has been developed by a UK-based foundation that aims to promote the study of computer science and related topics, especially at school level, and to put the fun back into learning computing.
The ultra-low-cost computer targets in the areas of charity and school in teaching computer programming to children, and it will be used in more countries.
The first product is as small as a credit card, and is designed to plug into a TV or be combined with a touch screen for a low cost tablet.
On the base of 700-MHz ARM11, the board has 128MB or 256MB of SDRAM, OpenGL ES 2.0, 1080p30 H.264 high-profile decode and composite and HDMI video output. In addition, it has USB 2.0, a SD/MMC/SDIO memory card slot and an optional integrated 2-port USB hub and 10/100 Ethernet controller.
Eben Upton, one of Raspberry Pi’s founders and driving force, will be at the ARM booth on October 26 and 27, at the Santa Clara Conference Center and at 1.30pm on the 27th will provide some background to the development during a session in the Expo floor theatre.
