The ADA4096 operational amplifier features high precision with micropower operation and rail-to-rail input and output ranges. The voltage ranges from 3 V to 30 V making these amplifiers perfectly suited to monitor battery usage and to control battery charging. The performance of 27 nV/√Hz voltage noise density makes them an ideal option for battery-powered audio applications. Capacitive loads is up to 200 pF so that no oscillation during handling.
The ADA4096-2 offers overvoltage protection inputs and diodes that allow the voltage input to extend 32 V above and below the supply rails, which can eliminate or minimize the need for external OVP design and components.
The ADA4096-2 also has a unique input stage that allows the input voltage to exceed either supply safely without any phase reversal or latch-up; this is called overvoltage protection, or OVP.
The ADA4096-2 is available in 8-lead LFCSP (2 mm × 2 mm) and 8-lead MSOP packages. The ADA409x family can operate in the extended industrial temperature range (−40°C to +125°C) and is part of the growing selection of 30 V, low power op amps from Analog Devices, Inc.
The device targets in the applications of battery monitoring, sensor conditioners, portable power supply control, etc. It draws 60 μA of power per amplifier and features twice the bandwidth and half the voltage noise of its competitors, according to the vendor. The device sells for $1.87 (1000).
