Embedded NOR Flash Is Expected to Have 8％ Growth

According to the research of IHS iSuppli, in popular panel device application of iPad or other devices, NOR flashes are becoming more and more useful. The market of NOR flash are expected to increase by 8 percent with the revenue of 3960 million.
　　
Unlike the declining wireless NOR for mobile phone, the embedded NOR market maintains stable growth. The output of NOR flash this year is 3640 more when compared to 2010. The average growth of each year in next four years will be 7-9 percent. By 2015, the output of embedded NOR will reach up to 5410. In 2010, the two biggest embedded NOR flash markets include hard dish and PC. The market shares of these two fields have all reached two-digital growth. Hard dish’s output is expected to be 5260 million occupying 13 percent of NOR flash market, and PC’s output will be 3830 million with the market share of 10 percent.

The other outstanding part in NOR filed in this year will be CD driver, output 3330 million occupying 8 percent; network, output 2770 million occupying 7 percent; TV, output 2450 million occupying 6 percent.

Tablet and eBook-reader are the fastest growing sections in the field of embedded NOR. Tablet like iPad and eBook like Kindle and Barnes & Noble reached 80 million as for the output, which is 196% increase when compared to 27 million in 2010.

Despite NOR flash is seldom used in panel PC and eBook reader, which almost can be ignored in the NOR ecological system. But in next few years, the production volume is expected to increase dramatically. According to the research of 20 NOR products items from iSuppli, tablet and eBook reader as a category has the highest CAGR in five years with the growth of 53 percent, while the entire embedded only has 8 percent. In contrast, the second fastest section is Bluetooth at the CAGR of 16 percent; the next is automobiles with 10 percent and game is following as 10 percent as well.
The foundation of NOR flash market depends not only on consumer electronic but also the whole electronic industry. Therefore, the growth of NOR market will be in conformity with overall economy rather than be determined by one kind certain hot technology.
