When the shortage of silicon wafer has not been completely solved, the personal computer manufactures demand to restock in advance. The predication of price growth of DARM rises in the April of 2010. The growth rate will be six percent. Currently, price of the 2GB DDR3 module has increased to eighteen US dollars, so the quotation of 2GB chip will be two US dollars. To be more than twenty US dollars is possible for this module’s price. If the supply of silicon wafer still short, the price will be twenty US dollars in May and June.

Recently, the DRAM industry faces two situations, on one hand, the contract price grows successfully in April, and the growth rate is more than five percent. The personal computer manufacturers are willing to add the stocks; on the other hand, many factories will proclaim the finance report in the end of May, but many corporations are unable to break the loss. The contract price has begun to rising in March, and the price growth is successful in March, which helps the recovery of DRAM industry. The practitioners maintain that the second quarter is the traditional off season which will have so many challenges. The earthquake in Japan has changed the relationship of demand and supply; so many DRAM manufacturers have the excuse to raise the price. Moreover, there are so many uncertainties in the market, so the customers are hard to refuse paying.

The DRAM manufacturers supply the products to the normal orders, but the over order can not be completed. The world’s two largest silicon wafer manufacturers, namely Shin-Etsu Handotaii and SUMCO, can not recover the production now. The stocks of semiconductor only can support one to two months, but the output should be determined by the state of silicon wafer’s supply. When the supply of silicon wafer is short, some large factories, such as Samsung Electronics and Hynix, will consider the value and application of every silicon wafer. The NAND chip is the most important, and then the standard DRAM is the second. The related integrated circuit is KTD1937.
