The OLED is the light phenomenon which is driven by the light phenomenon. According to the predication of research institution, the display and lighting will be two main applications of the OLED. Although few factories can supply the related products of OLED, the output value reaches one billion in the entire 2010. More and more factories are entering this market, therefore, its production will increase so much. The output value can reach two billion the year of 2011, and the yearly growth rate is one-hundred percent.
The development of display is faster than the lighting application. Currently, many consumer electronic products, such as cell phone, MP3, digital camera, car-display, had used the PMOLED or AMOLED panel. Driven by some large factories, the high-level cell phone with AMOLED panel is very popular. From the view of display development, the AMOLED panel will threaten the TFT-LED technology which is the main display technology at the present time. The AMOLED does not need the other component parts, such as the backlight, backlight module, colored filter. The effect on the environment will be less, because the material is also reduced. Meanwhile, it can be thinner and have low power consumption.
However, the TFT-LCD is mature enough, which has a huge industry group nowadays. It is very hard for the other technologies to surpass the supply chain of TFT-LCD technology. The large size of the TFT-LCD has the major advantage. What is more, the average service life of the TFT-LCD panel can reach sixty thousand to one hundred thousand, but the service life of the AMOLED panel is uneven. How to improve the quality of the AMOLED panel is the key breakthrough.
When it comes to the OLED illumination, many large factories will invest on it. But it still has so many obstacles, such as the cost and efficiency. Two years are needed for the commercialization of the OLED illumination. The related integrated circuit is 2SB1114.
