The sensor and measuring instrument are the indispensable parts of industrial area. The accuracy and safety of the traditional devices can be improved with the sensor and the measuring instrument, which will make the device easy to be operated and maintained. As a part of the automation system, the industrial devices should be compatible with the automation system, expanding the application of the system. Therefore, adding the sensor and instrument is the necessary condition for the traditional device to update. Sensor is a device, which is able to convert the non-electric quantity into electrical signal. The sensors are applied for different industries. What is more, the fast development of appliance, automobile and information industry makes the requirement of sensors high. Therefore, the manufacturing industry of sensor becomes an independence industry, which drives the development of industrial devices.

There are many kinds of different sensors which use the different scientific principles, but the price is not high. Therefore, driving the development of sensor industry is a little bit difficult. The sensor is experiencing the change from traditional type to the new type in recent years. The new sensor is digitized, intelligent, multi-functional and miniaturized. It promotes the transformation of the traditional industry, becoming the economic growth point. The miniaturization is based on the MEMS.

The development of MEMS takes the intelligence, miniaturization and reliability of the sensor to a new level. The instrument of the sensor is based on the microelectronics technology. The microprocessor is built in the instrument to implement the digitization, intelligence and networking. In the aspect of networking, the ethernet and fieldbus are mainly used by the sensor. Apart from the MEMS, the development of new sensor also relies on the new sensitive materials, sensitive components and nano technology. The related integrated circuit is TD62383.
