As a leading original equipment manufacturer that are famous for its Blackberry phones, RIM is speculated by experts to involve in the trouble of lagging to far behind the market just like the world’s largest handset manufacturer Nokia. In the technology area, being late can cause fatal results, and there’s no exception, even the biggest companies can’t get rid of it. Consumers have no patience in waiting for companies to progress as slow as they wish.
Actions are taken by the company like changing the executive management, some people have lowered their expectations and some even have dropped their coverage. The stock value has affected deeply. Considering the evolvement of smartphone and tablet market, it’s not difficult to understand. The competitive market factors are obvious. What consumers want are innovative products that match their ever-changing need. On this point, Apple has successfully did this by delivering its iPhone and iPad. What investors expect is products with credibility and competitiveness and higher revenues as well as bigger market share. People all want the price to be more reasonable.
A study for a technology research company comScore said that Apple is making inroads quickly despite that more than one third of U.S. smartphone users have chose Google’s Android operating system. According to the study, during the first quarter of 2011, the American smartphone market share of Android was 36.4 percent, which represent a 5.2 percent increase for that three-month period. Apple’s iOS market share increased by 1.3 percent modestly during that time, but a simultaneous 4.7 percent decrease for Blackberry maker RIM meant that Apple took over RIM’s place behind the leader. Apple also moved up a place in the rankings for top U.S. OEMs during the first quarter of the year, adding 1.3 percent to pas RIM in that measure as well.
Over the last few years, RIM has tried seducing consumers away from the iPhone with new form factors like the Pearl and the Torch, a shiny touchscreen with a slide-out QEERTY keyboard. But despite its best efforts, the new lineup has failed to wow customers the way the iPhone does, even all these years after its first launch. While things didn’t get better for RIM. Mobile service provider choice is important on smartphones and tablets, both to provide good network coverage to employees and also to keep competition high hence prices low. The related integrated circuit is MB501L.
