Mobile technology refers to not only just mobile phones or smartphones but also media devices, hand-held games, Netbooks, notebook computers, E-book readers, Internet tablets and car electronics that make mobile internet like video, games, MP3 music, entertainment, and wireless applications on the car possible.

Thanks to the rapid development of mobile phone Internet technology many people benefit from the convenience of making new friends and finding old ones on the Social Networking Sites and Instant Messaging. The mobile Internet technology and platforms are growing so fast that have surpassed desktop Internet, and many experts believe they will be bigger than most people think.

The mobile Internet in China now is stepping from the age of technical tools to entertainment and social networking. Generally, the development of mobile Internet can be divided into three stages: infrastructure, platforms, and applications. In the first stage, with the usage of wireless data and the demand for wireless devices increasing, many companies seize opportunities to serve the increasingly empowered mobile users. During the second period, three platforms are appearing: SNS, mobile, and Web. Finally, at the applications stage, more and more new applications are created at a high speed to best serve consumers.

The infrastructure is fundamental for without it the mobile Internet will be unaffordable. Chinese mobile Internet users are still very young and they need long-term fulfillment from entertainment and socializing.

More Chinese prefer mobile over fixed-line phones as in the first quarter, 1.653 million fixed phone users gave up their fixed-line service. While mobile phone subscribers have risen to 890.27 million in the first quarter, with about 61.902 million people using 3G service. The number of broad band Internet users increased by 7.35 million to 133.69 million.
