Currently, the main suppliers of the GPU have different views in the integration of GPU and CPU. AMD has returned to the performance and compatibility which can be provided by the x86, while Nvidia has integrated the low power ARM core in the GPU. No matter who will become the standard, the manufacturers all throw great stakes in this process.

Nvidia maintains that the sales of mobile device will be ten times of the personal computer in the future years. AMD agrees that the cell phone market will increase rapidly. Meanwhile, the drafting techniques will play an important role in the mobile devices. Both AMD and Nvidia point out that their GPU all make the mobile device able to provide the drawing function. Actually, the drawing-intensive 3D game and CAD software will be implemented in the cell phone in the future.

Different from Bvidia, AMD points out that the future mobile device will be produced based on the framework of x86 which will exceed the leading place of ARM. AMD has not aimed at the smart phone market, but a reprehensive says that this company is trying to do the research of flat equipment and other mobile devices. On the contrary, Nvidia also expresses that the low power consumption of ARM can provide longer service life to the battery. The long service life is needed by drawing.

The role played by Intel must be mentioned here, although this is decided by the relationship between Intel and Nvidia. The integration of drawing unit makes Intel as the first company to produce this production in large amount, but the high-end independent drawing market still belongs to MAD and Nvidia. Therefore, Intel wants to be success by Sandy Bridge which has integrated CPU and GPU. Some people think that Intel may purchase Nvidia, which will be another topic. Currently, the CPU of ARM dominants the mobile market by the characteristics of low power consumption. However, according to the predication of ABI research, the power consumption and performance of x86 will approach the ARM-based device. X86 will take eighteen percent of the market share in the year of 2016.

The next generation of process technology will make the powerful x86 have low power consumption. The 22nm design process released by AMD will reduce processor’s power consumption to 7W.
