According the newest predication of Gartner, the world’s smart phone operating systems will have the following situation: Android, which is developed by Google, will have fifty percent of the market share; the iOS, which is designed by Apple, will only take nineteen percent of the market share. Gartner has issued the newest report of smart phone in the last Thursday. The report indicates that the shipment of smart phone will reach 468 million sets in the year of 2011, and the growth rate will be 57.7%. Android will be the most popular platform all over the world. The ratio taken by the IOS may reduce in the future years.
The Windows Phone, which is released by Nokia and Microsoft, will exceed the iOS in the year of 2015. Gartner also indicates that Microsoft will take 19.5% of the market share, while Apple’s share will reduce to 17.2%. Nevertheless, iOS will keep the second place in the market before 2015. This predication is based on the fact that Apple still keeps its profit structure and price strategy before 2015. Gartner maintains that Apple lacks adaptation to the market, but it is said that Apple will release the cheaper iphone which do not need the contract. The Chief Operators Officer of Apple also implies that Apple plans to change the prepared cell phone market.
The Symbian system is going to disappear, which will be replaced by Android. Android will take forty-nine of the market shares, while iOS only takes nineteen percent. It is worth notice that the Windows Phone develops very fast after the affiliation of Nokia. After 2015, Windows Phone will become world’s second largest operating system. Although the development of Android is robust in the high-end market, it should pay more attention to the middle and low market from the long term. The related integrated circuit is MT3S04AU.
