Hybrid Location Motivates The Integrated Chip

Currently, the positioning technologies, such as GPS+GLONASS, WiFi and sites, are very popular. And the integration of the positioning technology will be the developing tendency in the future. With people’s increasing demand of positioning service, the single GPS technology can not make them satisfied. One thing to be mentioned is that Broadcom is trying to integrate the MEMS with the other positioning technology, providing the customers with more accurate service.

Recently, Broadcom has released many integrated chip, such as BCM2076, which has integrated the Bluetooth, GNSS and FM together. This chip also supports the satellite system of GPS and GLONASS. Of course, the terminal market also has the higher demand for the integrated circuit. The technical challenges, such as smaller size, lower power consumption, stability and the strong ability of anti-jamming, all need to be overcome by practitioners. BCM2076 is able to provide GNSSTCXO, and people can choose the embedded LNA by adding the LDO to this chip. What is more, the chip has integrated the InConcertWLAN technology, so the wireless interference between Bluetooth and WiFi can be reduced.

In some developed countries, the LSB has been popularized, but it had not been activated in mainland China. In order to implement the hybrid location, the GPS network is needed. This network is able to provide the assistant data to AGPS chip. Broadcom owns the AGPS network which is offered by world’s baseline network, LTO technique and the integrated chip. All this shorten the LBS time to one percent of the original one. Broadband is establishing the global sites and WiFi data center all the time, which means that the last problem of LBS will be solved.

It is predicated that more and more customers will use the LBS in the future. This technical needs to be activated in mainland of China. There are several reasons for its status in China, first is the charging mechanism. Customers should pay the extra charges to the operators in China, while the main achievement of this technique comes from the advertisement in the developed countries. Second is the application experience. The application of the software is not convenient. Thirdly?the popularization of the LBS application means the flow will increase, which will bring pressure to the network. The related integrated circuit is HMBTA92.
