The family entertainment device is entering the Bluetooth wireless connection era which not only had broken the limitation of wired connection, but also offered the safe, stable and high-efficiency wireless connection. It is predicated that the demand for the Bluetooth consumer electronics and family entertainment product will increase steadily in the future five years. Recently, Broadcom had declaimed that the RealD had applied the Bluetooth solution in the active 3D glasses. This technology not only offers more acting freedom for the users, but also lengthens the service life of the glasses.

Compared with the infrared ray glasses, these new glasses will not be influenced by the other light sources or remote controllers. This product had been exhibited in the consumer electronics show in this year. Apart from the Bluetooth 3D glasses, there were other products which had the Bluetooth application on this show. Michael Foley maintains that the Bluetooth is very suitable for the connection between family entertainment device and other servicing facilities.

The Bluetooth Special Interest Group has adjusted the structure, forming the corresponding teams which toward five main markets, including cell phone, automobile, medical care, smart grid and family entertainment market. These markets will apply the Bluetooth 4.0, among which the family entertainment market is changing dramatically. Many corporations, such as LG, Samsung and Mitsubishi, had already released the Bluetooth television. The development of this new technology is exciting, especially in the consumer electronic industry. The active 3D glasses and the remote controller of smart phone are only the small scene.

The personal multimedia player, video game and gamepad are the main industries to drive the increase of Bluetooth technology in consumer electronics market. Video player was the third largest application of Bluetooth chip in 2010, which was only behind the cell phone and automobile. Playstation3 and Wii had applied this new technology to ensure the connection when the players are using the gamepad. The related integrated circuit is TLC59461.
