Nowadays more and more people choose to take a E-book reader with them whenever they are on a business trip or on the wing because it is convenient , portable and petite . With such a great device that owns almost a library in capacity who would ever want to take a stack of books ? As a matter of fact , there is only one little trouble need to be cautious is that do not expose the reader to the water . For example , if you spill your coffee on it by accident or get splashed at the pool , that will damage the tool .
As it continues to grow in popularity , scientists start to concern whether this device will pollute environment as other technology products or not . There are two different opinions upon this issue . The first attitude on E-readers is they are environmentally friendly . According to survey , it required twenty-four trees to produce a ton of paper and twelve for newsprint , and thirty-five percent of those books are destroyed even before they are read . Compared E-books with paperback books , the former certainly overweigh the latter . A predicted 3 kg of carbon emissions is saved by not buying a new book because 70 percent of those emissions are released when paper is produced . Essentially , E-books are carbon neutral . Another advantage is the lithium polymer batteries used in some E-readers which last longer and are much safer for the earth compared to Nickel-based ones .
Every coin has two sides , on the contrary , some people just hold the opposite opinion . Studies have shown that with the hype and popularity of E-readers , computers , the amount of paper used actually did not decreased but risen significantly . Some people believe the E-reader is not an environmentally friendly product through investigating the effects from production to transportation to waste . During the manufacturing and operating process , materials , energy and electrical power are demanded . Moreover , A lot of people have no idea about how to deal with the electronic trash . We can take it for granted that E-reader is powered by wind since it is wireless , in fact , the instrument is charged by computer or wall plug , while using this kind of electricity , gases that will affect the environment are produced .
After discussing the advantages and disadvantages of E-books , what should we do about it now ? Only time can tell us if the E-book reader do make sense in protecting the environment or if it do not make any difference at all . Here is another interesting concern about ADXL311 .
