Currently, the newest operating system released by Google for the smart phone is Android 2.3. This system was released in December of last year, but only the Nexus S applies this system. According to the newest statement of Google, about 89% of the phones use the Android 2.2 or 2.1. Android 3.0 has been released in January of 2011, which is designed for tablet computer. A release conference was held by Google two weeks ago, which has introduced the details of Honeycomb and used the Xoom to show.
Honeycomb has brought great changes to the Android platform, including the new appearance, multitask interface and the improved notification function. It also divides the screen into different functions. Although it is designed for the tablet computer, Google hints that it will be used by the smart phone finally. And anther blog maintained that Android would run the applications especially for Honeycomb compiling, and it would be released in April of 2011. The next generation of Android will be named "IceCream Sandwich". Besides, Chrome OS focus on the netbook, while Android focus on smart phone and tablet computer.
