Both HDcctv and IP high-definition have their outstanding features in security industry currently, so customers have choices according to monitoring requirement. Although IP High Definition occupies a certain part of market share, HDcctv still has much room to develop and won’t be eliminated in short-term.
IP HD transmits data through network, which overcome the problem of complex wiring and devices for the local simulation monitoring used by most users. Upgrading the CCTV to HDcctv only needs to change camera and DVR and engineers don’t have to learn more complex network knowledge and do extra upgrade.
The video of CCTV surveillance is separated from alarm. It is low intelligence that personnel intervene required when give alarm. IP HD doesn’t need people to attend and can give an alarm automatically. But it may not suitable for every occasion such as finance buildings, prisons and museums where still need monitor staff on duty 24 hours to handle problems at the first place. IP HD transmission has the characteristic of delaying, so it may not be able to achieve these goals. In contrast, HDcctv can solve these problems with no delay.
IP can be the best choice when users need remote monitoring for IP HD monitor thousands away with high anti-interference ability and encrypt transmission ability. As for transmission, HDcctv has its unique advantage. IP HD transmits compressed monitoring data by the way of encapsulation which is easy to get distorted while HDcctv can offer uncompressed HD images with higher reliability.
Although IP HD is of increasing importance, some places where accuracy control required like bank, arena and hospital, once network broke or congestion, it may cause great loss. HDcctv system can avoid such a problem for it adopts digital methods to transmit HD video without any data encapsulation to make sure signal in real-time and integrity.
HDcctv and IP HD are enjoying popularity by their unique features at the moment. But which one will be a winner in the future development? As I am concerned, that depends on which industry standard can bring lower cost, meet the need of future expansion, achieve increase in business value, etc. The related integrated circuit is LS-31.
